ppl are talking about the federalist society, and the right wing project to take over the courts, as they should...it's smart! in housing, ppl often talk about real estate as a big political donor as a way to explain high rents, evictions, etc... 1/4

real estate doesn't just give (or even mainly give) politically. they give BIG BIG to every university...and first thing you learn in econ 101 is that rent control sucks. (nevermind the economic benefits of stability or that the housing market is notoriously inelastic.) 2/4

and then those folks become policy makers in droves. and maybe they go to law school, join the federalist society, and become supreme court justices. idk. but tbh ... most of them don't! most just become homeowners and tenants and talk to their neighbors and blah blah blah 3/4

so the point is....we can't "out-smart" or "out-policy" or "out-bureaucratize" the right -- that's their terrain. we need to organize people *everywhere*. especially where they live, especially as tenants. that's how we win! 4/4
